Legacy Traditional School – West Surprise Earns Arizona Purple Star School Designation, Honors Military Families with Ceremony, New Campus Logo
SURPRISE, AZ – (legacytraditionaldev.org) Legacy Traditional School – West Surprise (LTS – West Surprise) is proud to announce its official designation as an Arizona Purple Star School, a recognition awarded to schools that demonstrate exceptional commitment to serving military-connected students and their families. This honor highlights Legacy’s dedication to fostering a welcoming and supportive school community for those who serve our country.

To commemorate this achievement, the school has unveiled a new campus logo featuring a purple star, a symbol of appreciation and support for military families. West Surprise is Legacy’s second Arizona campus and 5th in the network (Surprise, Southwest Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson) to earn this designation.
The Arizona Purple Star School Program, established by the Arizona Department of Education and Military Child Education Coalition, recognizes schools that go above and beyond in providing resources, training, and support tailored to military-connected students. Schools earning this designation must meet key requirements, including:
- Designating a military liaison to assist military families with enrollment, transitions, and available resources.
- Providing professional development for staff on the unique challenges military-connected students face.
- Maintaining a dedicated webpage with key military family resources.
- Hosting military recognition events and activities to honor service members and their families.
Legacy Traditional Schools have long been committed to academic excellence and student success. This Purple Star designation further reinforces their dedication to providing a supportive environment for military-connected students.
Legacy Traditional School – West Surprise hosted a special Flag Ceremony on Friday, May 16, at 8 a.m. Students and staff wore purple to honor military families and all active military members in attendance were invited to stay for breakfast in the school cafeteria as a token of appreciation for their service. 
Legacy Traditional Schools – Arizona Superintendent Mia Vega emphasized the significance of this designation:
